Himachal Weather News: Himachal Pradesh is bracing for a heatwave as the weather takes a harsh turn. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for various parts of the state, warning of extreme heat conditions.
According to the IMD, there will be no respite from the scorching heat for the next five days. However, some districts might experience slight relief. Here’s what to expect in Himachal Pradesh’s weather this week.
Himachal Weather: No Relief Until May 25
Meteorologists report that there are no strong western disturbances currently, leading to clear skies and intense sunlight. The fierce sunlight is heating up the mountains, and the air has become hot with dry winds blowing through. This has made the heat unbearable and potentially dangerous. Residents of Himachal Pradesh are unlikely to see any relief from this heatwave until May 25.
Yellow Alert for Heatwave in These Districts
The IMD predicts dry weather in Himachal Pradesh until May 27. Significantly, a yellow alert for a heatwave has been issued until May 25 in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur. Despite this, some districts might see a bit of relief.
Slight Relief in Some Districts
According to the weather department, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti will not experience a heatwave for the next five days, providing significant relief to the residents. Shimla and Chamba are also expected to be free from heatwave conditions for the next two days.
Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms has been recorded in various parts of Himachal Pradesh. However, meteorologists say that there is no forecast for rain in the state for the next five days.
